Surprise ~ Day 12

I had already made my dog leave the kitchen for begging and well he thought he was being sneaky...well surprise...gottcha!

I edited my shot in Pixlr Editor (free program)...I first cropped the shot, then used a HDR filter and added the vignette.  This is a pretty simple program and along the lines of Photoshop/Gimp.

Photo Art Friday - March 16

This weeks options are:

• Any photo art of your choice you'd like to hang
• Photo art with some sort of hidden element in plain sight (encore from last week)
• or highlighting the color "green" for St. Patty's Day!

Well, I went for 2 out of 3 to work on for this week's challenge.

My idea came from a thought in my head, "every picture tells a story".  So, I thought I'd share a bit of me...parts of my story.  Also was able to slip in the green too.

Please forgive me, for I did not write down everything I did.  I did, however, start my project off using Bonnie's "Artist Texture 1" texture.  I chose the photos I wanted to use and made them either b/w or sepia tone, so their colors would not interfere.  Each one I added at different blending modes either "lighter", "overlay", or "multiply" lowering the capacity.  I did use another texture, but for the life of me can't remember whose it was, but when I do find it again, I'll make a note on here.

White eDition - Texture Tuesday

I can't believe a week has already gone by...wow.  This week's challenge is to use one of Kim's fabulous textures and center your photo around the word "white".  Since last week I used my white flowers, I didn't have much time to be overly creative with this weeks challenge.

Over the weekend I took a few photos of the blooming Bird of Paradise (which is way early for them to be blooming) in our yard.  I sat down in the grass and my dog decided my lap was a great place to sit.  I have a Great Dane mix which is a wee bit over 100 lbs.  Yes, I know, he so needs to lose weight, but he's very muscular (in my defense).  I still had my camera in my hand and took this shot using my 35mm lens.

I first desaturated the picture a bit, then used Kim's textures, "and Then Some" blending mode Multiply at 100%, "Shades of November" first I flipped the image and then mirrored it using blending mode Overlay at 95% and then "Scratched Magic July" at 95% Screen mode.

I wanted to use the "mouse over", but I didn't save the original...heh.

Keeping cool in the grass

Every morning after I grab my cup of coffee (a must), my dog wants to go outside.  Since I live in the desert, this time of year, it's a wee warm in the mornings.  Our backyard faces east, so we get the morning sun, anyway I head out with my coffee and see that one of the Hibiscus flower hasn't quit opened up all the way and decided to take a picture.  I have so many pictures of them opened all the way.

Then as I looked around our Rose of Sharon bush had some blooms on it and decided to take a few pictures of that one as well.  This bush is right outside my kitchen window, so I love it when there's blooms on it.
I was about to head back inside when I noticed my dog lying in the shade on the grass.  I went over and sat down and casually took a few pictures.  As you'll see he's pretending to be asleep and then well I think he's getting annoyed with me in the second photo.

He has days where he likes to have his pictures taken and then days he just doesn't want to be bothered.
