Walking down memory lane...

Today I was in the mood to go through drawers to see what I need to get rid of.  I came across a drawer that had some cd's in them.  There were no labels on them, so I decided to put them in my computer and to my surprise were some old photos from about 10 years ago.

This is one of my son and his best friend...which now are both teenage boys.  Wow, how time flies and I thought these days were a bit hard...NOPE!

This one is a favorite of mine, isn't that just the sweetest moment...LOL.  The little girl is my friend's daughter that I use to watch, she adored my son (and even though he'd never admit, he adored her too).

Anyway, I just wanted to share my little treasures.  These pictures were taken with an old Point and Shoot, not even sure what the megapixel were...LOL.  There were a lot more photos on the discs, but chose just to share these.

Happy!

Hooking up with Texture Tuesday - Love eDition

This weeks theme is "Love" and to use any of Kim's fabulous textures at least once.  I had the perfect photo I wanted to use, but didn't ask the parents permission in time (since it's of their little boys).  I don't like putting anyone's kids on the internet without their permission...that's just me.

The photo I chose shows "love" to me.  I'll fill you in on it a bit.  This picture is of me and a very, very dear friend of mine.  We met back in Junior High and immediately were friends.  She has the most contagious smile then and still...we were inseparable.  Ok, making a long story short...she got married very young and had children.  Me, I went on living the "typical" single life (no children) and working towards a career.  Sadly, our separate lives took us in different directions along with other things beyond our control.  BUT, she was never ever far from my heart.  Years went by about 20 and I was back home (Texas) visiting and we found each other.  Unfortunately, we didn't stay in touch (not sure why)...anyway with the great internet and Facebook, yes, we found one another again.

Nancy came out to Las Vegas for a wedding (not hers...lol) and we met up.  It was like we've never really been a part.  We hugged one another so tightly, I didn't want to let her go...not again.  We had a fabulous day hanging out and catching up.  We've kept in touch ever since and have made a promise to never lose contact.  You see, she's one of the best people I know and one of the strongest ladies I know.  I'm so bless to have her in my life, but even more blessed to call her my friend.  I love you Nancy!  Best Friends Forever.

Kim's texture I used was Misty Love Letter blending mode Normal 100% erased over us, I wanted to keep as much of that texture as possible.  I added another layer blending mode Burn not sure what opacity.  Then I used Shadow House Creations Black Box Mask - 8 blending mode Overlay.

Gearing up for the 4th of July

What kind of plans do you have for this 4th of July?  We'll be celebrating our annual 4th of July BBQ Bash with friends, family and neighbors.  Swimming during the day and lighting fireworks at night.

I just want to give a little shout out to our troops, who have and are still fighting for our country!
God bless you and bring you all home safe!

I hope everyone has a fabulous and safe 4th of July.

It's another.....

Texture Tuesday

Our assignment this week is to take a photo with people or person and use one of Kim Klassen's texture.

This photo was taken on Father's Day of my son with his father, our dog Leggs and a dear friend of the family.  We had our friends over and barbequed.  The day started out a little bit windy, but ended up beautifully.

I first duplicated my photo, added Gaussen Blur at 7% radius and erased the blur from the subjects.  I merged my two photos added Kim Klassen's Portrait texture at 100% Burn merged down again and added the same texture again using blend mode Soft Light at 100% and slightly went around the subjects with the eraser tool.

Here is the original.

EtsyBloggers Team Blog Carnival......

Plans for the Summertime!

My son is officially out of school now and he's already complaining about being bored....LOL. I told him there's a big list of chores coming his way, so there is no way he'll be bored. He didn't seem to like that much...LOL. But he has a few things he needs to pay off!

On a better note...we have a few trips planned this summer. First we will be heading over to Morro Bay, CA. for our cousin's son's High school graduation party! Congrats Garrett! I can't wait for this trip...I love going to the ocean. I miss the ocean. It's also a lot cooler this time of year around there.

A beach close to Morro Bay!

Then we'll be heading to Bass Lake, CA. which has always been a tradition for us. We try to make it there every year if not every other year. The boys went last year, but this year it will just be us up there! It's so relaxing and the lake is very refreshing too. Our dog Leggs loves to swim in the lake. He tries to chase the ducks...it's pretty funny to watch.

Our final trip will be to Santa Cruz, CA. We'll be meeting up with some friends and hanging out at a beach house...well technically it's not exactly on the beach, but within walking distance to the beach (private at that). This will be nice too! I love to shop in new places...LOl!

In between all the vacations I will be creating new apothecary bottles and "monster" boxes for our etsy store and hopefully doing a few shows here and there.

I wish all a happy, fun and safe Summer!

Boys will be Boys....

Yesterday, my son was at a friends house up the street from us playing. I figured they were either inside playing video games or riding their bikes up and down the street. So I decided to go outside (it was a gorgeous day here in the desert) and saw them outside sitting on the ground bending over doing something.

Well I thought I'd go and get my new camera (love it) and try putting my 200mm lens on to see how well it works (I haven't had a chance to really use it yet). Well to my surprise they were making "paper airplanes"!

So I hid behind our wall and took a few pictures of them (without them seeing me...lol.) playing and throwing their paper planes up in the air. It's nice to see kids use their imaginations again to have fun, instead of sitting in front of a computer or video games.
